fbf #1: The Whole World to Myself

Today is a day for a flash back Friday! It's starting to get warmer here in New Mexico, and if you know me very well then you know that I despise the heat. Fall and Winter are my absolute favorite times of the year, and I have always been one to like the cold. With the sun always shining these days, it made me think about a time when it was snowing, and it felt like I had the world to myself.

It was on the 13th of December, and the night before I had gone to bed at around 11:30 pm, my usual time. But for some reason I just could not fall asleep to save my life, and ended up staying awake tossing and turning for a good three hours. I must have fallen asleep for a minimum of one hour before I woke up again. Already too frustrated, I decided to give in and stay awake, laying in bed while scrolling through Instagram. It was now around 4am, and out of curiosity I took a peak out of my window. It was snowing! I got so excited, because this winter hadn't given very much snow, and I had been pretty disappointed about it. I quickly got up, changed, grabbed my camera, and ran outside.

It was absolutely beautiful, and the snow was coming down nonstop. The best part? No one else was awake. It honestly felt like I had the entire world to myself, it felt so magical, as cheesy as that sounds. It was quiet, calming, and so beautiful. I wobbled around the snow taking as many pictures as I could before my SD card became full. One of my favorite parts was getting to watch the sky go from a grayish-black, to light purple, to blue.

Sadly, a lot of my pictures came out blurry since it was snowing so hard, and so much, and it was hard to tell how the pictures were coming out.

And my personal favorites:

I wonder how strange it might have looked like to see a teenage girl in a bright yellow coat and snow boots, trying to walk around in the thick snow and falling multiple times. Not to mention giggling every now and then out of pure joy! Haha!

Thanks for reading!

Toy Collecting

Something I've come to notice more this past year is just how childish my room is, and all of the "toys" that I seem to have. Not that I'm complaining! When I was younger I loved to collect things, my two main collections being marbles and beanie babies. Now it seems my collection has turned into toys, though now that I look through these pictures, I guess the correct title would be Disney Toy Collector? Here's some pictures of a few things that I have around my room!

Tsum Tsums are something that I magically became invested in last summer. I went to the Disney Store after a long absence of going, and saw these cute little bread rolls on display. I had somehow never heard or seen them before? I was instantly hooked.

Then this past Christmas, all I received from my mom was Tsum Tsums, and I couldn't be happier! Look how cute! I go to school in a town where there's no Disney Store, and I was pretty bummed out when I couldn't get all of these sets that came out last year. Thanks mom! ♥

Legos are something I can thank my little brother for getting me addicted to. Just look how cute these characters are! All of these legos are actually gifts from my brother, since he loves getting the little mystery packs, and will sometimes give me his duplicates. The first six are from last years Halloween Mystery Packs, and the cute gamer on the far right is from another mystery pack last year. Has anyone seen the newest ones? I absolutely need that cute shark lego!

Figures are something I looove to collect, especially when they're of my favorite heroines! I got this little Wonder Woman figure as a gift quite a while back.

Sooo...can you guess who my favorite Disney princess is?
Did I mention I like figures?

I know this isn't a very impressive collection, but it's still in the works, and it's something I really love! I hope you enjoyed looking through it. Do you collect anything? I'd love to hear about it!

Valentines 2016

I hope everyone had a nice Valentines day! Whether that be spending it with your significant other, friends, family or just treating yourself by watching a movie and eating junk food. I can definitely say that I celebrated the holiday with the latter.

I woke up, made myself some coffee, and spent the morning browsing through my favorite art book.

Then I got dressed and put on a rather fitting enamel pin. I got this pin from the amazing shop you were swell! (currently closed right now)

A little while later I went to the store just to browse, and ended up coming home with the cutest flowers that I just couldn't resist. Look how pretty the color is!

Afterwards, I made (and ate) a lot of chocolate chip muffins!

Finally, I watched The Royal Tenebaums to end the day.

Thanks for reading! xoxo

Hello!

Welcome to my little blog that I am proud to say is finally in full swing! I have wanted to create a blog for the longest time, but my fear of having no idea what to do, as well as being intimidated by other amazing bloggers stopped me in my path. But if I wouldn't start a blog then, then when? I finally gathered the courage, and started planning out this blog later in the year of last year. Some bumps happened along the way, bumps that I like to call 'I was once again to fearful to start this blog', but I am trying once more. So here's to this blog hopefully being a little success!
I wanted to have my very first blog post be a little bit about me, what I am currently do/what I like to do, as well as my true intentions to wanting to create a blog. So, for starters, my name is Gabrielle!

I just recently turned twenty on the 23rd of January, and it's so weird not being a teenager anymore. Maybe I'll talk about that in another post?
I am a second semester Sophomore attending Santa Fe University of Art and Design. I am majoring in Digital Arts with a focus in Illustration, as well as hoping to minor in photography. I have been drawing ever since I can remember, and I am glad it's something that I've stuck with all these years. I plan to show some of my school artwork as well as personal work on this blog sometime in the future.

Some random facts about me: my favorite color is yellow (Could you tell?), I live and breathe art and reading, I have lived in five different states and one country, I have two tattoos (both Disney related), but I plan on getting a lot more, my favorite seasons are Fall and Winter, and I may have a slight addiction to coffee. Okay, maybe not slight, more like full force addiction.

So, there are multiple reasons as to why I wanted to start a blog, but let me try and narrow it down. One of the first reasons is that I have always wanted to try another outlet for my creativity, but I was never entirely sure how. I think it was a couple of years ago when I discovered some really amazing bloggers that weren't on tumblr. I thought it was so neat, because it was almost like an online diary, except not so private and everyone could see it. I loved the way they shared just about anything they wanted, and people seemed to love hearing about what they did. Despite reading all of these blogs and enjoying them thoroughly, I had never actually thought about making one my self. Besides, my life wasn't exactly exciting. It was then early last year when I actually thought about making one myself, and came to the conclusion that my life doesn't need to be absolutely exciting to have one! Just had a nice relaxing day indoors watching nothing but movies and eating snacks? Why not blog about it!

It wasn't until my dad bought me a nice camera this past Christmas that I decided to truly start working on this blog. This was something I was worried about at first, because I knew photography was going to be a big thing here, but I had no way of getting good pictures that weren't using my phone. Thanks dad!!

The second reason as to why I wanted to make one was that it just seemed like a lot of fun! Although I would love to have a set schedule every week for blog posts, I realize this might be slightly unreasonable. At least for a beginner like me, so I have decided to settle on making posts when I feel like talking or something exciting has happened recently.

I really hope you guys enjoy this blog, and I do plan on having a lot of nice and interesting posts! There is no set schedule yet, but I do have a few posts in the making to tide everyone over.

Posts you can expect to see here on The Yellow Sweater is Mixtape Mondays, Book Reviews, Art Posts, Treasure Tuesdays, Fashion Fridays, and a lot more!

Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
